Saturn and Sebec

 ♄ More Night Sky

In September of 2024, the mighty Saturn made its appearance.  Well... it's always there, up in the sky, but it was closer to Earth.  Close enough that I was able to capture a spec of it using my 8k zoom lens.

I remember wondering if there's life out there... or maybe zombies.  Or maybe, if we have souls, that's where they go and re-generate.  I mean... the possibilities are endless because of the unknown.  But one thing is for sure... seeing it on my camera was unreal.  Watching it move across the screen was unreal.

If this is something that interests you, mark your calendar!  September 21, 2025 is when Saturn will be at its brightest and will be closest to Earth according to Earth Sky.

But wait!  There's more!  In the same month and year, a partial lunar eclipse was visible to the naked eye.  It was super early in the morning which was not an issue because I get up super early in the morning everyday anyway.

🛶 Sebec River

The Sebec River is an outflow of Sebec Lake in Sebec, ME.  Sebec is west of Milo where the Sebec River passes through and where I usually launch my kayak.

The Sebec River runs 10 miles east and southeast.  Beautiful view especially in the fall.  There's hardly any motorized boats so paddling is really peaceful.  A Milo resident owns seaplanes.  I assume that their house is by the river where the seaplanes are parked (docked:?).  They use the stretch of the river in Milo as a landing strip.  I witnessed them landing before and it's entertaining to watch.

I've paddled along side a beaver before.  I named it Justin.  All beavers should be named Justin.  That was fun and kind'a scary at the same time.  I'm not sure if he would jump into my kayak or over-turn it.  But he was nice and just kind'a swam baeside me.

And if you're out on Sebec River at the right time, you'll see several snapping turtles basking and enjoying the warmth of the sun.

Given a chance to relax your mind, take it.  Think of it as one of the tasks that you have to do, a part of your day to day chore.  Think of it as preparing yourself for the day to come, refreshing yourself during the day as it unfolds or cleansing yourself at the end of the day.  It does not matter when you do it.  Your mind and body needs this.  It strengthen your mind and body.  It takes practice and commitment but once you get there, you're one step closer to a peaceful and content mindset.
